ABSTRACT

In this chapter the author explains understanding of cosmography closely follows mobility theory's focus on cosmopolitan pluralism. The basic four key business motives for sponsoring sport (image enhancement, increased awareness of the product and the firm, hospitality opportunities and product trial or sales opportunities; see Crompton 1995) are more or less covered by Brazil's strategic planning. Climate and urban infrastructural variables played a role in sports venue selection, as the 12 World Cup cities were not just tourist destinations but also training facilities for the competing teams.
