ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the quantitative data analysis which involves one of two approaches: using descriptive statistics to obtain an understanding of the data, or testing hypotheses using statistical tests. Business researchers have lots of data to help managers improve their decision making. One of their primary tasks is to convert the data into knowledge. With quantitative research, this means examining the data to identify and confirm relationships. Before quantitative data can be analyzed, they must be edited, coded, and in some instances, transformed to ensure that they can be properly used in statistical analysis. Many research projects have numerical data or information that can be quantified to enable research questions to be answered. The chapter also focuses on graphics and charts, which helps to understand and describe the data. Graphics and charts communicate complex issues and make the business research reports more visually appealing. Business researchers have missing data, whether from surveys or internal sources such as data warehouses.
