ABSTRACT

Once a Hollywood blockbuster movie could take seven months to arrive in some countries. Now this time is cut to 60 days or less. The Internet is one reason for this new speed. Foreign consumers are using online retailers such as Amazon.com to buy films on DVD as soon as they are available in the United States. In many cases, these films have not yet opened in all national markets. Furthermore, movie fans around the world can access movie promotions on the Internet. These promotions appear even before the domestic launch. Waiting months to see these movies frustrates foreign consumers.
