ABSTRACT

When EuroDisney opened outside Paris, French attendance at the theme park was disappointing. Some attributed low ticket sales to a cultural snub of this American icon. Others noted a particularly wet and cold season. Still others blamed the strength of the local currency against the U.S. dollar. French consumers could buy-and spend-dollars at bargain prices. If the French wanted Disney, they could catch a plane to Florida’s Disney World for not much more than they would pay for a weekend at EuroDisney.
