ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the planning process, which simultaneously encompassed both British Petroleum Company plc (BPs) corporate restructuring and its office relocation. The portion of the BP organization involved in the project is known as its Group Head Office (GHO), and the building, located at Finsbury Circus in London, is officially known as Britannic House. BP one of the top three oil companies in the world, has taken significant steps to reshape the ways in which its employees communicate and collaborate. Members of the HOK design team were available to explain features of the furniture system, including wire management, storage, work surface heights, seating and to address any questions. During the first half of the planning and design effort, work on four key areas such as conference center, boardroom functions, directors suite, and food service progressed into detailed design. Boardroom functions, including the boardroom and board dining room, were located on the third floor along the Finsbury Circus elevation.
