ABSTRACT

In this chapter we shall be looking at the remembrance of a set of red and blue squares and circles presented in the form of a square matrix (not drawn in) whose two upper sections consist of three red circles and five red squares, and whose two lower sections consist of four blue circles and three blue squares (Figure 25). This model provides us not only with a logical structure involving a multiplicative classification, but also with a highly 'pregnant' symmetrical

configuration the figural aspect of which corresponds closely to the operational structure. Moreover, the circles and squares are made of wood, the better to symbolize that the model represents one over-all class divided into four sub-classes according to colour and shapes.
