ABSTRACT

While it’s perfectly normal for 3-year-olds to dance in front of a group of strangers without any embarrassment, this is not quite the case for teenagers and adults. This has all to do with the fact that our self-concept radically develops during adolescence: a relatively simple self-concept is replaced by a much more complex image which is more dependent on our environment. As a result, we become much more aware of the fact we may be ‘judged’ for our odd behaviour.
