ABSTRACT

Despite seeing faces all around us all day long, we only need a few milliseconds to determine whether it belongs to a man or a woman, an older or a younger person, someone we know or don’t know – even when faces appear to look very much alike. Even more remarkable is the speed at which we can tell from someone’s face how they are feeling. We are able to very quickly recognize if someone is happy or angry, sad or relieved, confused or confident.
