ABSTRACT

Organization is an early key to being a good video editor. In the editing context, being organized means meta-tagging, and selecting keywords for people's files prior to editing. Editing provides virtually unlimited options, and starting to edit footage without a plan can easily lead into a never-ending spiral of trial and error. There are different types of cuts, and different types of edits that mean different things to the viewer. A lot is involved in putting together a sequence of images and scenes that works for the viewer. The main foundation of video editing is essentially to put clips together into an order that makes sense logically. A montage is a technique in editing that conveys the passage of time with a lot of shots. A fiction piece might have scenes shot in multiple ways, many times, to acquire as many different angles as possible. Pacing is another aspect of a film to keep in mind from shooting through editing.
