ABSTRACT

Nowadays the platforms, and technology to tell stories are changing at a rapid pace. In journalism, it is generally not necessary to obtain written permission from a subject before filming them. Nonfiction visual storytelling is the communication of real situations, events, and people to the world. The goal is to show real life, as it is happening. Whether working for a newspaper, a television station, a website, or on your own as a documentary filmmaker, the nonfiction visual storyteller needs to deliver a story with a beginning, a middle, and an end. Even when simply reporting the facts while on scene at a breaking news event, the way information is delivered to the audience is going to take the form of a story. Stories must be discovered rather than being made up, and the storyteller must deal with many real people and many real deadlines.
