ABSTRACT
The first part, un-, is called the prefix. The second part, law, is called the base or root morpheme. The third part, -ful, is called the suffix. The base morpheme contributes the central meaning of the word as a whole. Prefixes and suffixes are added to existing words to create new words. Table 9.1 shows some more examples of words divided into their constituent morphemes.
