ABSTRACT
We start with prepositions. These are words that are used before nominal phrases or their equivalents to indicate a certain grammatical/semantic relation with other elements in the clause. They do not function as immediate clause constituents. Instead, they introduce and combine with nominal phrases to form prepositional phrases that function as clause constituents.
