ABSTRACT

The term ‘learning support’ covers all those activities which enable a school to respond to the diverse range of needs and abilities of pupils. Learning support is about more than pupils with SEND; it is a whole-school issue aimed at supporting the development of more inclusive systems in the school, rather than merely helping individual pupils. If support is to be wholly effective it must be founded on respect for all pupils, including pupils with SEND, and those pupils’ right to be full members of the school community.
