ABSTRACT

Introduction The term reentry is used to describe the transition offenders make when they leave a

period of confinement. However, the period of confinement is not limited to prisons.

Jails, residential treatment centers, halfway houses, group homes, or any other resi-

dential placement should also be considered in this discussion. In other words, reentry

is what inmates experience as they transition back into the community from a period of

confinement.
