ABSTRACT

Problem analysis and decision making are probably the most important issues that the

police manager faces. On a day-to-day basis, the manager is continually thrust into

situations that require logical, sound, and realistic decisions that, if successfully imple-

mented, will lead to the resolution of problems and the achievement of specific objec-

tives. Often, however, police managers are never quite prepared to adequately handle the

rational aspects of problem analysis and decision making.
