ABSTRACT
In a free enterprise system, the best indicator of success is sustained growth. By this criterion, private security is a success. The best data available indicate that private security grew at an annual rate of 10 percent per year during the 1970s. Few segments of the American economy were able to maintain such a growth rate during the same period.
