ABSTRACT

In the spring of 2011, the Ruth Mott Foundation initiated the Share Art Flint Community Mini-Grants program in order to bring the arts into underserved areas of the Flint community. Seeing the need for an arts program at the local juvenile detention center, members of the Buckham Fine Arts Project, an artist run co-operative gallery and art center located in downtown Flint, partnered with the administration of the Genesee Valley Regional Center (GVRC) to create a 12-week pilot art program for the youth housed at the detention center.
