ABSTRACT

Training , coaching, counseling, and mentoring are all significant elements of today’s modern law enforcement didactic process. Over the years, this practice has become highly formalized. Police academies and state standards for teaching law enforcement personnel the skills, knowledge, attitudes, and behavior needed to function successfully proliferate in every part of this nation. Moreover, in its many forms, training serves as the focal point for creating and maintaining the efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity of a department. Each component contributes to the professionalization of the field, and significant progress has been made overall from the time that an individual was given a badge and a weapon and sent out on the street by himself or herself or with an old-timer.
