ABSTRACT
Prison administrators have always faced the task of maintaining order and discipline in a prison. Some means of dealing with prisoners who violate instructional rules and regulations are required.
One such means is the use of punitive isolation, which is isolation from the general prison population imposed as a penalty for violating institutional rules.
