CommunitypolicingcontinuestobethedrivingforceforchangeinAmerican policing.Manypoliceagencies-largeandsmall,urbanandrural-haveimplementedkeyfeaturesofcommunitypolicing.Communitypolicinginfersinternal, organizationalchange.Atthesametime,communitypolicingstrategieshavebeen appliedwiththeexternallyfocusedgoalsofdetectingandpreventingcrime.Furthermore,inlightofthefactthatmanyagenciesreceivedfederalexpendituresas partofthe1994CrimeBilltoimplementcommunitypolicingstrategies,theneed forevaluationsofcommunitypolicingpracticesinmanyAmericancitiesandrural areasinparticularisapparent.
