ABSTRACT Very often police photographers have to introduce artificial light when available light is too low or nonexistent. In most instances, artificial light is added by means of an electronic flash. Light can be manipulated in several ways with the camera. It can be produced as a single flash, helping to fill in shadow areas; it can be used with multiple flashes, illuminating several parts of the scene at one time; and it can be used to decrease shadow by bouncing the flash illumination off a reflective source.
