ABSTRACT

Plastic is ubiquitous in sporting goods. Fishing rods and tennis racquets once made from wood are now made from plastic, as are high-end bike frames, bowling balls, and a multitude of other equipment. Plastic has replaced traditional materials because it's often stronger, lighter, and cheaper. But there are alternatives that combine traditional materials like metal, wood, and even cardboard with innovative design. The results are groundbreaking new products that can replace the environmental and health concerns of plastic with positive impacts while also achieving peak performance.
