ABSTRACT
Our post-petroleum world may be built not only with different materials and technologies than our current one, but different design principles as well. The principles of design described in this chapter are drawn from the work of the dozens of post-petroleum designers interviewed and studied for this book. The products they make use less petroleum, and they are typically made with: Renewable materials Recyclable materials Non-toxic materials Low energy processes Low carbon emissions Local artisanry
