ABSTRACT
The grammatical category of case relates to the inection of a NouN, proNouN or NouN phrase , i.e. changing the form of these by endings which show their function in the sentence or clause. German has four cases: NomiNative, accusative, geNitive and dative. All of these have a range of uses, as summarized in Table 2.1.
