This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book analyzes the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)-politics relationship, and explains the changes in forms of this relationship. It explores the causes of the rise of the IRGC in Iranian politics and provides an analytical framework to explain the varying forms of the IRGC-politics relationship, which can also be utilized in the study of civil-military relations and revolutionary armies. The book examines the revolutionary armies and politics that put forward four variables influential in revolutionary armies' relationship to politics: ideological outlook of the revolutionary army, its corporateness, the ideological stance of the political leadership, and its power. The ideological outlook of the revolutionary army offers a basis for its corporate identity, a mindset to assess major developments, and provides impulses for its mobilization.
