ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a manifesto that sets out the principles and philosophy for a sustainable mobility system, the concept of operations for mobility management and the method of implementation with The Travel Demand Logistics Management (TDLM). In order for TDLM to work effectively, the objectives and outcomes of such a regime need to be spelled out in sufficient detail to address the social and spatial requirements of users, whether individuals or businesses. The chapter attempts to create a mobility management policy that balances the need to be sustainable, economically, socially and environmentally with political democracy. Sustainable mobility will utilise the latest information and communication technologies to manage travel demands and assign journeys to the transport systems in the most optimal manner. The chapter outlines the programme that is a speculation on the future arrangements for transport planning and delivery.
