ABSTRACT
Globalization of education refers to the worldwide discussions, processes, and institutions influencing local educational practices and policies. What comprises this global education superstructure? There are international organizations that directly and indirectly influence national school sys - tems. There are multinational education corporations and schools. Government and professionals engage in global discussions about school policies. In the first issue of the journal Globalisation, Societies and Education (2003), Roger Dale and Susan Robertson state that the global - ization of education would be considered as an intertwined set of global processes affecting education, such as worldwide discourses on human capital, economic development, and multiculturalism; intergovernmental organizations; information and communication technology; nongovern - mental organizations; and multinational corporations.
