ABSTRACT

One common element in all automated lights is the electrical circuit. Since there are no purely mechanical luminaires, they have to connect to a power source and they work by converting electrical energy to light energy and kinetic energy. Some of the most important concepts to understand about electricity include current, voltage, resistance, power, and energy. In a direct current circuit current flows from the positive terminal, through the circuit, and then to the negative terminal. In an alternating current circuit the supply reverses polarity 120 times per second in North and South America or 100 times per second in Europe, Australia, Asia, and Africa. The way electrical current flows through a circuit is similar to the way water flows through a hydraulic system. Ohm's law is one of the most important fundamental relationships in electricity and electronics. It describes the relationship between the voltage, current, and resistance.
