ABSTRACT
To make sense of an automation system, we need a conceptual model. The Pentagon of Power introduced in Chapter 2 maps any system into five primary components: Machinery, Amplifier, Feedback, Control, and Operator Interface. To reinforce this idea which will be referenced throughout the book, several complete systems of varying complexity are dissected using the Pentagon of Power.
