ABSTRACT

This chapter covers important terms/topics such as instruments used for testing, care of instruments, approved test lamps and leads, initial verification checklist, test procedures for radial and ring final circuits, functional testing, and certification. It shows how instruments are to be used for particular tests, and explains the requirements of GS 38 for test leads, the general areas that require inspection, and the test sequence. Then, it also focuses on why and how various tests need to be conducted, interpret test results, and the requirements for certification. Apart from the knowledge required to carry out the verification process competently, the person conducting the inspection and test must be in possession of appropriate test instruments. Before any testing is carried out, a detailed physical inspection must be made to ensure that all equipment is relevant to a British or Harmonized European Standard, erected/installed in compliance with the IET Regulations, and not damaged in such a way that it could cause danger.
