ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the case studies of Enabling value. The two corporate objectives were left unfulfilled at Fusion21 is, to undertake Research and Development in improving products and services and to maintain 'Fitness for Purpose'. The fulfilment of these objectives is led across the business by the Heads of Corporate Services and Business Improvement. They work together to constitute a nexus for the interaction of the present with the future. Southern Mill was constrained in a number of ways: A single paper machine with a limited capacity and product range, a 'speciality' market requiring high frequency, small batch deliveries, Capital investment controlled by the owning group, Group control of raw materials supply and cost, a rural location. Acting within those constraints, the strategic choices were effectively limited to market growth and market penetration. ChemCo: the dog barks considered how information was generated and used in a chemical research and development process to stimulate learning.
