ABSTRACT

The Queen of Sheba sets out to ascertain that King Solomon is indeed the wisest man of all. A childless woman miraculously conceives a son by ingesting magic medicines. While still young, the boy discovers the ocean and feels the urge to travel. Although his parents try to dissuade him, their efforts are in vain, and he sets out on his journey during which a Moor becomes his faithful companion. On his homebound trip, the youth cures a hopelessly ill princess who is offered to him in reward, but he refuses to marry her, insisting that he must first find his lost parents. A neighbor is kind to a young girl whose mother has just died, and the girl convinces her father to marry the woman. Soon, however, she is mistreated by her stepmother who sends her to another neighbor to be killed. Instead, the compassionate neighbor gives her a magic spool of thread to save her from trouble.
