ABSTRACT

EV range is affected by cold weather and the use of air conditioning and lights.

Manufacturers usually consider the end of life for a battery to be when the battery capacity drops to 80% of its rated capacity. This means that if the original battery has a range of 100 km from a full charge, after 8-10 years of use the range may reduce to 80 km. However, batteries can still deliver usable power below 80% charge capacity. A number of vehicle manufacturers have designed the battery to last the lifetime of the car.
