ABSTRACT

People join the military for many different reasons: education benefi ts, the camaraderie and sense of belonging, the travel, the challenge, following a family member’s footsteps. My father was in the Army for 27 years. When I was growing up, we moved every three years in the United States and Germany. I went to eight different schools between the fi rst and twelfth grade. After graduating college, I realized how much I wanted to join those doing the important work of watching over our nation.
