ABSTRACT

In the previous chapter, I discussed spatial asymmetries in the complex dynamics of the cross-border activities conducted by Korean artists during their moves to the U.S. While the analysis revealed the imaginative function of places in the transformative processes of Korean pop music products, it focused on the strategies of image and sound production and marketing. In this chapter, I focus on people, considering the reversed transnational flow of immigrant artists to South Korea and the affective responses of local and international fans.
