ABSTRACT

Adjectives have two different forms depending on whether they are being used predicatively (i.e. following a verb such as leat ‘to be’ or šaddat ‘to become’, e.g. nieida lea čeahppi ‘the girl is clever’) or attributively (i.e. in a noun phrase, e.g. čeahpes nieida ‘clever girl’). North Sámi attributive adjectives always precede their associated noun.
