ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces regulations about the props themselves, and talks about some of the other legal protection one should be packing if get involved in this business. Applicability applies to toy, look-alike, and imitation firearms having the appearance, shape, and/or configuration of a firearm and produced or manufactured and entered into commerce on or after May 5, 1989, including devices modeled on real firearms manufactured, designed, and produced since 1898. Any person who changes, alters, removes, or obliterates any coloration or markings that are required by any applicable state or federal law or regulation, for any imitation firearm, or device, in any way that makes the imitation firearm or device look more like a firearm is guilty of a misdemeanor. The laws concerning both real and replica firearms can vary so greatly among various countries, states, municipalities, and even properties. The chapter concludes with the industry standards that have arisen to keep us all safe and covered.
