ABSTRACT

Philip Johnson is a born-again Christian and founder of the ‘Intelligent Design’ movement, which attempts to set out an intellectually respectable defense of Creationism. Naturalism starts as a methodology for the discovery of good scientific theories. The over-ready diagnosis that there are indeed yawning explanatory gaps is entered without any honest attempt, on the creationist’s part, to come to terms with the many and varied facts about the biological realm that are so satisfyingly brought within our comprehending grasp by neo-Darwinian evolutionary theory. Relativistic cosmology’s admission of a singularity in space-time that can be thought of as the event of creation, and that can be construed only as the work of God. The creationists resorting to this hypothesis invariably ignore other, naturalistic accounts that address the question of mechanisms or treat judiciously of the singularities.
