ABSTRACT

We analyse public support for the idea of free access for EU migrants to the labour markets of other EU member states. The results show that citizens of the three EU countries of our analysis are largely willing to grant equal opportunities to EU migrants. However, this does not hold for citizens from Turkey. Furthermore, we find little proof of the potential for politicisation based on social cleavages. Finally, the respondents were asked to choose between a national and a foreign service provider in scenario questions. The results show that the majority of the citizens of the three EU countries would not differentiate according to the provider's nationality.
