ABSTRACT

Research proceeds by util iz ing oper a tional refer ents for the constructs of a theory to test if the constructs inter re late as the theory states. As previ ously discussed (e.g., Section 5.3), factor analysis can be used to select a repres ent at ive subset of the vari ables, directly test inter re la tion ships of constructs, and so forth. The present chapter includes several research applic a tions of factor analysis that have not been suffi ciently discussed in prior chapters.
