ABSTRACT

The educators also know the importance of a work, life balance and intentionally make time to unplug and explore other outlets for connecting with friends, family members, and themselves that are totally unrelated to education or social media. Successful educators are keenly aware of the dangers associated with working too many hours and spending too much time connected via devices and, as a result, commit to spending their time away from their workplace in a variety of ways, including time set aside for unplugging. Educators who spend a significant amount of time connecting with others beyond the walls of their own workplace realize that they are models for the colleagues and the students with whom they interact. According to Robert Schuetz, like many others, he has experienced a personal and professional rebirth as a result of connecting with other educators through a personal learning network (PLN).
