ABSTRACT

While the infrastructure of a sport facility is certainly important, without people working in and using the facility the infrastructure is useless. Hence it is safe to say that the most important resource for a sport facility is the human resource. Human resource management is the function within an organization that is responsible for the recruitment, training, and retention of personnel, but goes much more in depth in an effort to strategically move the organization forward toward a vision. However, prior to analyzing these human resource practices, it is important to recognize who the major human resources are in a sport facility. For the purpose of this section, we will break down these human resources into three categories – professional staff, volunteers, and clients.
