ADMISSIBILITY OF BAD CHARACTER EVIDENCE OF WITNESSES AND DEFENDANTS

The effect is that Part 11, Chapter 1, ss 98-112 of the CJA 2003 codifies the law relating to evidence of bad character in criminal proceedings. The

courts have interpreted the provisions with reference to the old law very sparingly. It is as if the new provisions involve an almost complete departure from the old law on character evidence.
