ABSTRACT

Gestalt defies easy description, since it is constituted from a variety of approaches and practices that have drawn on many different sources. Zen Buddhism, with its focus on the moment, was one influence. The psycho-dramatic work of Moreno was another. Lore ‘Laura’ Perls (1905–90) and Frederick ‘Fritz’ Perls (1893–1970), who championed Gestalt therapy, also drew on an array of developing psychological and physiological research.
