ABSTRACT

Keeping the spark alive is the fifth habit for successful marriages. In order to keep the spark alive, an individual needs to know what sparks desire for himself or herself, to communicate the information clearly to their partner, and to take action by engaging in erotic activities that increase desire for their partner. An individual needs to be in a relationship in which their partner is open to exploring these various sexual interests as a consensual team. This chapter describes the important tools that couples need to create a healthy sex life: communication that is relaxed and positive; an ability to take personal responsibility for one's needs and desires; a relationship in which partners value each other and try to incorporate their partners' sexual needs and desires. It explains the different types of desire that are discussed in the literature such as spontaneous desire and responsive desire.
