ABSTRACT

This chapter explains that commodity is a use value or object of utility, and a value. It remains eco-sustainable future of socialist human flourishing. The chapter describes treatment of the two vital 'coordination' problems of socialist organization based upon models of reduced scale. It explores state-of-the-art knowledge of human material life derived from Marx's economic theory and historical studies and supplements it with cutting-edge insights from the best of economic history and anthropology to produce a design for the socialist future of human flourishing. The most important knowledge dialectical economic theory furnishes for socialist construction is that of the general norms of economic life. Marxian political economy as a whole that includes dialectical economic theory, stage theory, and historical analysis of capitalism also contributes in important ways to future-directed thinking. Marxian economic theory accomplishes its task by demonstrating that the historical possibility of capitalism necessitates the surmounting by abstract-general value of all concrete-specific use value obstacles or 'contradictions'.
