ABSTRACT

As Grove frequently described, coaching is about helping the coachee get from “A to B.” Metaphorically, a coach is like a vehicle for coachees to make that journey from where they are now, to where they would like to be. And when coachees’ think of their outcome they tend to imagine it as existing somewhere outside of themselves: a destination to aim for somewhere in their mind’s eye. There is also another imagined space that signifies where they are right now. Clean Coaching attempts to model these mental spaces, either by exploring them as metaphors using Clean Language, or by helping coachees map them out in the physical space around them.
