ABSTRACT
On the first floor I found myself upon a terrace surrounded by buildings and overlooked by the windows of the courtyard. A great white and red tendido overspread a long table set out in the European Style, and most of the chairs were tilted to denote places still 262unoccupied. On the door of a room at the end, on the same level as the terrace, I read these words: " Qui si paga 6o piastres per giorno " (Here the rate is 60 piastres a day).
