ABSTRACT

CHAPTER OVERVIEW  This chapter will outline the role of the Early Years Graduate Practitioner/Early

Years Teacher (EYGP/EYT) in promoting emotionally secure environments and

positive behaviour with children from birth to seven years. It examines their role in

developing children’s social and emotional competency through strategies which

promote positive behaviour, self-regulation and independence with the aim that

each child achieves their full potential. The chapter will address the following

questions:

 What strategies develop children as confident and independent learners, so every child is capable of achieving their full potential?
