ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the weather and outdoor activities. Outdoor activity is an important part of life in Norway. Norwegians even have a term for it: Friluftsliv means literally "free air life". Norwegians are interested in the weather. There are detailed weather reports and forecasts on television, radio and the internet, and it's a common topic of conversation. In fact, many Norwegians flee the often wet and chilly summers for warmer climes such as southern Spain, Greece or even Florida. Norwegians use the Celsius scale, where water freezes at 0 degree Celsius and boils at 100 degree Celsius. Colloquial Norwegian provides a step-by-step course in Norwegian as it is written and spoken today. Colloquial Norwegian will be an indispensable resource both for independent learners and students taking courses in Norwegian. The finite verb comes second in simple declarative sentences. A finite verb is a verb in the present tense, the past tense or the imperative.
